SERVANTS VERSUS SONS – IT’S ALL ABOUT THE HEART

Hebrews 12:7-8, NIV – “Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.”

John 15:15, NIV – I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”

3 John 1:4, NIV – “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

THE APPROVAL OF A FATHER WILL EMPOWER THE SON!

The Heart Of A Son

The Heart Of A Servant

Sons build the house.

Servants serve the house (and so do only what they have to.)

Sons hold their father’s vision as their own, and so inherit what is their fathers.

Servants take only the parts they like, and receive no inheritance.

Sons are always family oriented.

Servants are issue oriented (and so will split over issues)

Sons use the language of the family – “we – our – us”.

Servants use individual terminology – “me – my – I”.

Sons honor their fathers, and do not expose their nakedness.

Servants expose nakedness in order to promote themselves. They are critics.

Sons will submit to their father’s authority

Servants will always question the decisions, and are always redefining who their authority is.

Sons will share their lives down to the 2nd and 3rd generation.

Servants will not share with the next generation.

Sons bond new people to the family.

Servants draw new people to themselves.

Sons focus on the welfare of the people.

Servants focus on appearance, how to look good.

Sons share their inner thoughts and feelings.

Servants share only what they want you to know.

Sons are secure, and so can be corrected.

Servants see correction as rejection, and can’t take it, and so pass on the blame to others.

Sons start out awkward in spiritual things, but then mature in them.

Servants will not step out or take chances, because they have a fear of failure.

Sons never bring up the past – they love, protect, and defend. They instead speak of the future and believe for it.

Servants would rather discuss your past than your future.

Sons are more concerned about relationship.

Servants are concerned about rules and regulations.

Sons have a stake in the family business, they have an inheritance.

Servants look for sundown and a pay-check.

Sons stay put under fire

Servants look for greener pastures.

Sons are birthed and developed by relationship.

Servants are birthed and developed by talent.
